Ecological Flow

Automatic and Measured Erogation

Solutions > Ecological Flow

Solutions for the distribution of minimum ecological flow in natural rivers affected by bypass works, in order to preserve riverside ecosystems.

Common situations

The importance of ecological flow in natural rivers is a requirement when constructing bypass works. This flow ensures the preservation of riverside ecosystems, being essential for their health and environmental balance. Its design is based on socio-environmental studies and may depend on the river's flow rate or the season.

To maintain this condition, technical solutions such as manual or valved bypasses are used to allow the continuous flow of water through the river. However, these systems can be susceptible to negligence or malfunctions.

Technical Challenge

TEMEC solves this problem by proposing autonomous solutions that guarantee ecological flow rate control, without depending on the direct intervention of the bypass operator. Fast response to changes in level and flow rate, resistance to vandalism and weather conditions are essential aspects.

Our technical solutions focus on efficient and sustainable performance in time.

Our Solutions for Ecological Flow

Safety, Reliability and Versatility

TEMEC CMXT Autonomous Gate

For high flow and low head projects. Fully autonomous, robust and reliable solution.

It allows modifying the regulated levels by manual or automated set point changes.

View Study Case

Features

For projects with high flow rates and low head, the optimal choice is the implementation of an MXT mixed level gate. This equipment provides precise control over the downstream level. By having a downstream control section that allows a known flow curve, specific flows can be derived in a constant way, as long as the level of the intake works allows it.

These solutions involve small or medium-sized civil works, including one or more gates controlled by floats and ballast weights. The absence of motors and sensors contributes to the robustness and reliability of this equipment.

They enable set point changes to be made on the regulated levels if the customer requires it, either manually or with the automation of small devices inside the gate. This automation is focused on the management of the set point change, not on the adjustment operations of the gate itself in case of fluctuations in the water flow, a situation that will always continue autonomously by the gate's floats. This ensures efficient, trouble-free and reliable operation in severe and variable weather conditions.

Deliveries with modular measurement

TEMEC MO Distributors for Manual or Automated operation

Flow delivery guarantee in gravity discharge outlets. Robust and reliable solution.

This solution does not allow modification of the installation levels on site.

View Study Case

Features

These solutions propose the use of modular measurement equipment to control deliveries at the outlets for ecological flow. They are mounted on the crest of the headworks itself, always assuming that the level variations are compatible with the operating ranges.

These consist of calibrated orifices for different predefined flow rates. In this way, within their operating range, these devices will provide a specific flow rate according to the user's preferences.

The absence of any complex mechanisms or lifting system contributes to the robustness and reliability of this equipment.
