Slide Gate


► Function

These equipments are probably the most widely known for the regulation of open canals and distribution systems. They can be adapted to different width and height dimensions. In addition, they can work with large water levels (bottom intakes) or on the surface. Sealing can be one-way or bi-directional, through continuous rubber seals.


According to the hydraulic loads to which they are exposed and other operating conditions, flat gates can be of the sliding type (with sliding skids) or the wagon type (with wheels on a roller track).


  • They allow sectioning the water flow in the canal or in lateral reservoirs to the canal.
  • They allow simple level regulation according to the upstream and downstream levels of the flow section.​

  1. Intake works on rivers.
  2. Bypass structures in irrigation canals and intake structures in reservoirs or lateral dams.
  3. Bottom outflows of dams or reservoirs.

  • Automatic Siphons can be mounted on the same structure, offering both a bottom discharge for cleaning and a safety element for upper intake in a single unit.

Spillway gate


► Function

This equipment can be installed in canals, reservoir intakes or water treatment stations. They allow to modify their height so that the overflow can change according to the required flow rate. Their shape avoids the entry of bottom solids into the pipeline or downstream sections.


  • They allow simple and intuitive regulation of levels for measuring capacity.​

  1. Intake control in reservoirs or lateral dams.
  2. Level control in head chambers of water treatment plants.

Tilting Weir (Overshot) Gate


► Function

This equipment can be installed in canals or rivers. They allow maintaining a minimum level upstream, whatever the flow rate. As the flow increases, they drop until they completely fold back, allowing the flow to circulate without overflowing upstream.


  • They guarantee a minimum upstream level for lateral bypasses or river intakes.
  • They allow water to be stored in the riverbed itself for irrigation, landscaping or as a sports reservoir.


► Application

  1. Intakes in rivers, with "mobile weirs" in natural watercourses.
  2. Control of discharge levels for measuring in irrigation canals.
  3. Maximum level control in head chambers of hydroelectric power plants.
  4. Mobile weir in dams.
  5. On demand flow control in a canal, operating in association with a measuring structure.
  6. Landscaping creating calm water areas of tourist and/or sporting interest.

  • It is suggested that protective fencing be installed to minimize possible vandalism to the actuators.

This equipment can be installed in canals or reservoir outlets. They can supply a practically constant flow rate, independent of upstream level fluctuations (within certain limits indicated in the corresponding diagrams).


  • They guarantee a constant flow rate for free water discharge.

  • Manual operation (can be automated on demand).


► Application

  1. Canal bypasses for equitable flow distribution.
  2. Oulet Control in reservoirs with little level variation (avoids excessive water consumption).

Remote Controlled Radial Gate


► Function

This equipment can be installed in canals. They allow an optimal distribution of the available water, by precise operations automatically operated with upstream and downstream level data. This gate design optimizes the hydraulic head forces on the equipment, allowing a significant reduction of the energy required for its operation (allows the use of solar energy).


  • They guarantee an optimal distribution of the water resource.

Radial Gate


► Function

This equipment can be installed in canals or dams. They allow to know the flow rate with high precision and so compensate inflows and outflows. They allow to control large water flows with efficient actuators.


  • They allow to regulate and control the through flow with high precision.
