Products > Open Canals

We provide integral solutions for Open Canal, with manufacturing and assembly of simple, robust and low-maintenance equipment, in order to guarantee its operation in a safe and long-term manner.

We have autonomous operation equipment, without the requirement of any external energy to be operated, and manual or automated equipment.

Autonomous equipment

This equipment operates on the principle of balance between a float and a ballast, which makes it possible to control the water level according to the project's demands.

  • Mixed Level Control Gate
  • Downstream Level Control Gate
  • Upstream Level Control Gate
  • Downstream Level Cylindrical Valve
  • Dreinage Flap Gate
  • Automatic Security Siphons

Automatizable equipment

These equipments are manually operated by lifting systems that are tested for the most extreme conditions. They can be automated by electric motors and remote controls, according to the requirements of the project.

  • Flat Gate (sliding/sluice or wagon)
  • Spillway gate
  • Radial Gate
  • Tilting Weir Gate (Overshot)
  • Distributors (TEMEC's Módulos de Orificio)
  • Remote Controlled Radial Gate (TEMEC's CST)

Autonomous equipment

 How they work

This equipment operates on the principle of a balance between a float and a ballast, which allows the water level to be controlled according to the requirements of the project. Within a range, the flow rate in the canal can fluctuate, and the gates will adjust their opening to maintain the desired level. Their operation independent of external electricity, automation, motors or human intervention makes them highly reliable and with minimal operation and maintenance costs.

Due to their role of constant level maintenance, these units can be combined to achieve:

  • SUPPLY DISTRIBUTION: The gate maintains an upstream level, allowing excess flows to discharge. Until the bypass setpoint is met, the gate does not open.
  • DEMAND DISTRIBUTION: The gate opens or closes according to downstream flow demand, increasing efficiency to almost 100% (pipe-like operation).
Compuerta TEMEC MXT

Mixed Level Control Gate

TEMEC CMXT

For installation in canals, rivers or reservoirs.

They allow maintaining a mixed regulation between their upstream and downstream levels, thus compensating for inflows and outflows.

Compuerta TEMEC AR1 (amil)

Upstream Level Control Gate

TEMEC CAR1

For installation in canals or rivers.

They provide constant water level on the upstream side of the gate section, whatever the flow rate.

Dreinage Flap Gate

TEMEC CLD

For installation in rivers, to protect against backflow.

They prevent the flow of water in one direction and oppose its return in the opposite direction. Known as "Flap Gate", our design operates autonomously in the event of a small overpressure.

Sifon de Seguridad

Automatic Security Siphons

TEMEC SFS

For installation in canals and reservoirs, for excess water evacuation.

They evacuate by progressive discharge, the excess of flow above a nominal level. They require less than 50 times the length compared to a spillway.

Valvula cilindrica

Downstream Level Cylindrical Valve

TEMEC CAB3

For installation in distributors in canals or outlets of reservoirs or dams.

They provide constant downstream water level control whatever the flow rate and the upstream level conditions or downtream demands.

Manual or Automatizable equipment

► How they work

This equipment is manually operated by lifting systems designed and tested for the most extreme stresses. They can be automated by electric motors and remote controls, according to the requirements of the project.

Compuerta TEMEC

Sliding or Wagon Gate

TEMEC CPx

For installation in water intakes, distribution works, water treatment stations and others.

They can be adapted to different dimensions both in width and height, always associated with a civil construction work of easy execution.

Spillway gate

TEMEC CPVM

Useful for periodic changes in the flow demanded.

They can be opened downwards so that the water flow passes over them, preventing the entry of bottom solids.

Clapeta

Tilting Weir (Overshot) Gate

TEMEC CLVS

For installation in canals or rivers.

They can maintain a minimum level upstream, independently of the flow rate. As the flow increases, the units retract until they are fully retracted.
